There are two types of MRX Series 64 port Layer 3 switches (left in photo):
- MRX-Q4064 have 16 and up to 48 2.5Gbit/s ports
- MRX-G4064 have 8 10Gbit/s Ethernet ports and up to 56 Gbit/s ports
“Commercial Ethernet switches are seldom tailored for industrial applications,” said Moxa product manager Paul Hsu. “To fulfill demands of aggregating data transmissions in large-scale industrial applications, the MRX-Q4064/G4064 Series is designed with multiple 10GbE ports and industrial-grade reliability to maximise high-bandwidth network uptime for continuous operations.”
Inside, intelligent control and eight fan modules handles temperature, while dual power supply modules add reliability. “Moxa’s turbo ring and high-availability static trunk [HAST] technologies provide redundant network paths and connectivity to achieve high availability for large-scale network infrastructure,” according to the company. “Hot-swappable modularity empowers module swaps without affecting operations.”
Built-in LCD modules allowing device status checking and aid troubleshooting.
Port trunking features allow grouping up to eight 10Gbit/s ports into a single 80Gbit/s link.
At the same time, Moxa has upgraded the firmware in its EDS-4000 and EDS-G4000 series of Layer 2 Ethernet switches (right in photo) to MX-NOS 4.0 “which provides added security, diagnostics, and more powerful features for futureproofing industrial networks”, it said.
