Use focusOS to Drown Out Distractions and Get to Work on Your Mac

The new app focusOS helps transform your Mac into a purpose-driven work device.

You can flick and switch on the Mac menu bar to begin. The app is customizable so you can create the perfect environment for you.

For example, you can dim inactive apps to reduce clutter on the screen, restricting how many apps can be displayed and the screen, hide the wallpaper and more. You can also block websites and apps that detract you.

To help you focus you can also fade out noisy surroundings with a number of high-quality ambient sounds like rain falling or a campfire.

The app also allows you to automatically run Shortcuts when you stop or start the app like toggling on or off Do Not Disturb.

It syncs with both your iPhone and iPad so you won’t be tempted to ditch work and start a distraction on your phone or tablet.

You can download focusOS now on the App Store for free. A subscription is required to make the most out of the app. There are two options available—$19.99 yearly or $3.99 per month. There is a free, seven-day trial available.

I’ve been using focusOS for a few days, and have enjoyed using the app so far. It’s great to enable the customizable options with just a single click. For the entire screen of my Mac to dim and just the app I need to use and block out other sites and apps. Give it a try if you’re wanting to take your productivity to a new level.
