It’s one of the TV shows we can’t wait to see this summer — Nida Manzoor’s lauded comedy series We Are Lady Parts is back for a second season. FINALLY.
Season 1 followed the chaotic and brilliant formation of the titular all-women Muslim punk band, with members Saira (Sarah Kameela Impey), Ayesha (Juliette Motamed), Bisma (Faith Omole), and Momtaz (Lucie Shorthouse) recruiting lead guitarist Amina (Black Mirror star Anjana Vasan). Season 2 sees the band ready to record their very first album, with plenty of personal hurdles, cringeworthy photoshoots, and hardcore money-scrimping along the way. But when they hit the road in the UK, they come up against rival band Second Wife. Looks like the band’s about to enter its villain era.
We’ve been waiting for Season 2 ever since Manzoor’s series landed on Channel 4 in the UK in 2021, then found syndication with Peacock in the U.S. And the only feedback we had then? More please.
“The main critique for We Are Lady Parts remains that it is too short,” wrote Mashable’s Proma Khosla about Season 1. “I want eight episodes, or 10, or 50. Finishing the first season feels a lot like performing a stage gig; you won’t remember every detail but you’ll remember the feeling, a rush of joy and adrenaline that you were grateful to share with this motley, magnificent crew.”
How to watch: We Are Lady Parts Season 2 premieres May 30 on Peacock in the U.S. and Channel 4 in the UK.
