Look what Taylor Swift made the App Store do.
Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) comes to Disney+ tomorrow, but in a case of classic Swiftian capitalism, she’s teasing its streaming release on the App Store right now. A preview of her acoustic performance of folklore‘s lead single “Cardigan” now plays when you open the App Store’s Today tab, prompting you to watch the previously unseen performance in full.
TikTok convinced me I had seen the best of Taylor Swift’s ‘The Eras Tour.’ Until I saw it in theaters.
People famously turned against U2 when their album was downloaded onto everyone’s iTunes library, but since Taylor isn’t taking up any precious storage space she’s probably safe from the ire. Plus, everyone should experience the lyric “Leavin’ like a father / Running like water” at least once in their lives.
“Cardigan” is one of five acoustic additions to the streaming version of the concert movie, which she’s calling Taylor’s Version. The film is a godsend for fans who were unable to secure tickets via Ticketmaster to see her wildly popular world tour in person.
Swift is releasing her next album The Tortured Poets Department on April 19 and will bring The Eras Tour to Paris next in May.
Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) arrives on Disney+ tomorrow at 9 p.m. ET.
