People who wanted to use a stylus-equipped eReader had to purchase them from less well-known brands like Onyx before Amazon introduced the Kindle Scribe. However, it appears that Onyx is encouraging people to forego the Kindle.
The Onyx BOOX Tab X is an enormous, powerful, and downright impressive ePaper tablet that is currently available. It has a 13.3-inch, 207 dpi screen, is only 0.27 inches thick, and has an A4-sized display. Additionally, it has an unidentified octa-core Qualcomm SoC, 128GB of storage, and 6GB of RAM along with Android 11.
Although these specifications are very impressive, Onyx’s Pen 2 Pro stylus is the key selling point. It enables you to make annotations on meeting recordings, add notes to ebook margins, and take notes. Customers can use a Bluetooth keyboard with the BOOX Tab X for more intensive work, and this stylus interestingly has a “eraser.”
Although there is still a slight ghosting effect, the BOOX Tab X uses “Super Refresh Technology” to eliminate the jitter and stutter of other ereaders. Additionally, it provides four distinct refresh modes that are tailored for using standard Android apps, reading books, taking notes, and browsing the web. This might be a good option if you’re trying to prevent eyestrain while playing around online.
BOOX Super Refresh Technology, supported by the dedicated GPU, creates an incredibly responsive and smooth refresh experience. For different tasks like reading, taking notes, and using apps on the ePaper screen, four new refresh modes have been created. With little ghosting, scrolling through webpages is a very pleasant experience.
Also worth mentioning is the BOOX Tab X’s 6300mAh battery. For any tablet, especially one with a power-saving E Ink display, that is a sizable battery. Unfortunately, Onyx has not provided information regarding this product’s battery life.
