The 94,000 square feet building – situated on a five-acre site – is located at 4 Goodyear in Irvine, California. The company says it is targeting occupancy in Q1 2025.
Terran says it will increase its space vehicle assembly, integration, and testing capabilities by three times its current capacity.
All of the company’s space vehicle assembly will be transitioned to this new facility, it says. Terran Orbital’s existing facilities will become dedicated, instead, to the manufacturing of components and modules.
Capacity
It’s an optimisation to increase both efficiency and overall capacity, highlighted the company.
“We are thrilled to be advancing toward the opening of our new facility,” said Marc Bell, who is the co-founder, chairman, and CEO of the company. “It will truly be state-of-the-art, featuring advanced robotics that will boost our capacity and accelerate our production speed, giving us the ability to facilitate existing and new contract awards.”

Terran Orbital
Back in 2023 we reported that Terran Orbital was expanding its facilities with a new 60,000 square feet facility in Irvine, California.
This was to support production of satellite buses as part of its its “Responsive Space Initiative”.
The new facilities included two advanced Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) lines, a testing facility equipped with a large shaker table and a Thermal Vacuum (TVAC) chamber, a wire harness facility, and new automated module testing facilities.
With seven satellite buses in the programme, the company said it was standardising common components that can be stocked and interchanged depending on the bus configuration. It designs and manufactures 85% of all the modules and components that go into a bus, it highlighted.
