September Launch Confirmed for The Walking Dead Onslaught

It may have been delayed by almost a year but Survios’ walker-filled virtual reality (VR) adventure The Walking Dead Onslaught is almost here. Today, the studio has announced that the highly-anticipated title will see a multiplatform launch in September 2020.

The Walking Dead Onslaught

Unlike rival The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners which saw developer Skydance Interactive team up with Skybound Entertainment – the one behind The Walking Dead comics – Survios collaborated with AMC so that The Walking Dead Onslaught could link in with the TV show, hence it features characters like Daryl and Rick.

The Walking Dead Onslaught will be a single-player experience – co-op has been dropped – where you can shoot, slice and bash your way through hordes of zombies, with Survios promising visceral gameplay. And from the new gameplay trailer, it certainly looks that way, allowing you to grab walkers and plunge blades into their heads, silently kill with crossbows or open up with an assault rifle.

Whilst it will tie-in to the TV series by allowing you to assume the roles of the shows’ characters, The Walking Dead Onslaught will feature its own original storyline for you to uncover. It will still feature plenty of elements from the show for fans to enjoy alongside being able to construct buildings as well as upgrade and customize arsenals.

The Walking Dead Onslaught

Survios has confirmed that The Walking Dead Onslaught will launch on 29th September 2020 for Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, Valve Index and PlayStation VR, with pre-orders going live today for the PC edition. Pre-ordering will gain you exclusive weapons and character skins, with the base game retailing for $ 29.99 USD and the Deluxe edition going for $ 39.99.

When it comes to the PlayStation VR version Survios looks to be teaming up with Perp Games for a steel book collectors edition, no price on that just yet. As further details for The Walking Dead Onslaught are released, VRFocus will let you know.
