Instead of mailing in your busted Samsung phone, try visiting a Batteries Plus location. This fall, 35 Batteries Plus stores will become Samsung Authorized Service Centers (ASC), meaning they can perform same-day in-warranty repairs on Samsung devices. This is in addition to the out-of-warranty repairs already offered by Batteries Plus.
Batteries Plus became a Samsung Independent Service Provider (ISP) in 2018. The deal is simple—as an ISP, Batteries Plus employees are trained by Samsung and supplied with genuine Samsung replacement parts. Now, as an Authorized Service Center (ASC), Batteries Plus can provide in-warranty repairs with a typical turnaround time of two hours or less. Additionally, its employees will receive more rigorous training and several certifications. Employees will also gain the ability to service foldable phones and other non-standard devices.
Customers can schedule in-warranty repairs at supported Batteries Plus locations through the Batteries Plus website. Of course, the retailer will also appear in Samsung’s Service Locator portal alongside Best Buy and other partners.
The sticking point to this story, unfortunately, is that only 35 Batteries Plus stores will become Samsung ASCs in 2023. Batteries Plus has over 700 locations in the United States, so if you live near a Batteries Plus, there’s a decent chance that it isn’t a Samsung ASC. On the bright side, Samsung claims that 80% of people in the U.S. live near an ASC. If you use the company’s Service Locator portal, you should be able to find same-day repairs in your area. And, of course, there are plenty of Samsung Independent Service Providers for out-of-warranty repairs.
Samsung’s partnership with iFixit is also worth mentioning. When in-warranty repairs aren’t an option, or when you feel a DIY itch, you can buy genuine Samsung parts at iFixit and repair your Samsung device at home. But I suggest visiting an ASC location if your phone is still covered by its warranty, as in-warranty repairs are inexpensive and performed by trained professionals.
You can schedule an in-warranty repair or view Samsung’s in-warranty service pricing at the Samsung repair page. When submitting an in-warranty repair, Samsung will suggest that you visit a nearby ASC location for same-day turnaround.
