Samsung will unveil the second Galaxy Tab S series at some point this year, though we’re not sure whether that will happen at next week’s MWC or within the next few months.
What we did hear is that the Tab S2 devices will be different than its predecessors in that sense that they will have screens with 4:3 rather than 16:9 aspect ratio. This in turn will make them more comparable with Apple’s iPads as well as Google’s Nexus 9.
The Korean company will stick to Super AMOLED technology to deliver great battery life and sharp colors. And again, we’ll have two models, one bigger and one smaller to compete with the iPad Air and iPad mini, respectively.
The bigger of the two will reportedly be thinner and lighter than Apple’s brand-new iPad Air 2. It will boast a touchscreen with2,048×1,536 resolution, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of built-in storage, 8MP rear and 2MP front cameras. Samsung’s own Exynos chip will provide the processing power needed to run things smoothly.
Said chip incorporates ARM’s 64-bit little.BIG architecture with four Cortex-A57 and four Cortex-A53cores, along with hexa-core Mali-T760MP6. In comparison, current Galaxy Tab S sports Exynos 5420 that has older Cortex-A15 and Cortex-A7 cores.
The Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 will apparently have a metal frame, making for a more premium look and feel. No word on pricing, but chance are tablets in the Galaxy Tab S2 series won’t be cheap, quite the contrary.
