Samsung Galaxy S23 Series Now Has Android 14 & One UI 6

Android 14 was finally released earlier this month, and so far, it has really only made its way to Pixel phones. That doesn’t mean that other companies aren’t hard at work trying to roll it out to their phones. It took a few more weeks, but Samsung is now starting to roll out Android 14 to the Galaxy S23 series, as part of the One UI 6 update.

Owners of the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra are now getting an over-the-air update to One UI 6, based on Android 14. The update follows several beta builds released through the Samsung Members app, and with the newer updates getting more and more stable, it’s no surprise to see Samsung release the update so quickly. The update comes with all of Android 14’s improvements as well as a redesigned quick settings panel, an improved lock screen and home screen, improved widgets, new AI camera features, better customization, and much more. There’s a lot to see here, and if you haven’t been paying attention to the betas, this will certainly feel like a fresh coat of paint for your phone.

It should be noted that the release of this update makes Samsung the first OEM that’s not Google to release Android 14 for its older phones. There used to be a time where Samsung’s reputation with Android updates was awful, with the company delaying updates for months and discontinuing support for its old phones rather quickly. In recent years, however, the company has cleaned up that reputation despite One UI being a rather heavy third-party Android skin. The company now offers quick updates as well as up to four years of major Android updates — the Galaxy S23, which launched with Android 13, should get updates all the way up to Android 17.

If you have a Galaxy S23 and you’re awaiting the update, it should be rolling out now to your phone. If you don’t have it yet, check back in a few days or wait for the notification — you just might not be in the initial rollout group.
