Obscura Adds Support for the iPhone 16 Camera Control Button

The popular third-party camera app Obscura has just been updated to take advantage of the same button.

You can choose to open Obscura with a single tap of the button. And when using the app, double-tap the button choose from a number of settings including control of exposure, zoom, filter, focus, and image format.

Anyone with iOS 18 can now also switch out one-touch access on the lock screen to Apple’s camera app with Obscura, thanks to the updated app. The app can now also QR codes as well.

The app offers a number of pro-level features. Obsucra’s sharing interface will appear when exporting images in multiple formats. That will allow you to choose whether to export the original file or edited version, making it perfect for RAW users.

There is also a number of interface changes to make the app easy to use. The Exposure Dial now adjusts in 1/3 stop increments, just like a traditional camera. A haptic can also help you feel when you’re changing the stop.

Obscura is available on the iPhone and iPad and is a free download. There is also a companion Apple Watch app that allows you to see the viewfinder, trigger the shutter remotely, and adjust exposure remotely.

To unlock all of the app’s features, you’ll need a subscription. That’s $3.99 monthly or $19.99 yearly.
