Google Could Offer Cheaper Pixel Tablet Option Sans the Dock

Google revived its tablet range with the Pixel Tablet (review) that debuted with a charging speaker dock last year. However, you are still unable to buy the standalone tablet without its docking station today, which raises the price considerably compared to a tablet-only option. Alleged leaked listings have surfaced, suggesting a more affordable tablet-only option is on the cards.

A cheaper Google Pixel Tablet?

Details about the Pixel Tablet-only package were first reported by leaker Arsen Lupin on X. According to the tipster, Google will reveal a standalone Pixel Tablet and new pen and keyboard accessories at I/O on May 14. However, the source didn’t divulge how much the device will cost without the dock.

As a reference, Google sells the charging speaker dock for $129 separately as a replacement should you damage or lose the existing Pixel Tablet dock. On that note, the tablet-only option should cost $370 if you were to deduct the dock’s price from the current $499 Pixel Tablet bundle.

To further complicate matters, the European pricing of the Pixel Tablet-only option is rumored to have leaked (via Droid-Life). Based on the leaked listing, the base Pixel Tablet with 128 GB storage costs €446, which is €233 lower compared to the bundle that currently retails for €679. The difference is notably more than the supposed value of the dock station.

Unfortunately, it is unclear how these prices will translate in the States and other countries. However, it is safe to say the standalone Pixel Tablet will retail somewhere between then $350 to $400 range, at least in the USA.

New keyboard and pen to accompany the Google Pixel Tablet

In addition, the outlet has received information about the upcoming Pixel Tablet keyboard’s price, which is touted to be listed at €89. However, it’s unknown how much the new Pixel stylus will cost, but based on rumors, it should be similarly priced as the keyboard accessory.

Google’s I/O 2024 is scheduled for May 14. Apart from the new Pixel Tablet offers, the internet search giant is also expected to unveil the mid-ranger Pixel 8a powered by a Tensor G3 SoC and features a refreshed design shared by the Pixel 8 series (review).
