Samsung has neither confirmed nor planned an announcement for its upcoming Galaxy S24 (Plus) and Galaxy S24 Ultra but there are reliable sources that point to an early January 2024 date. Another report also specified the supposed availability of Samsung’s upcoming flagship trio.
Samsung Galaxy S24 release date and launch venue
According to the details from the South Korean news outlet The Elec, Samsung will host its next major Unpacked event on January 17th, which will take place in San Jose, USA. This contrasts with a previous report that suggested San Francisco as the venue of choice. Regardless of which location they will eventually settle on, it will be a strategic choice for the tech giant, in line with its previous events.
As for the trio’s availability, the publication believes that pre-orders will commence on the same day as the launch event, at least in the US. Subsequently, initial shipments of the handsets are touted to arrive by January 26th with the actual sale date of the Galaxy S24 (Ultra) in brick-and-mortar stores happening on January 30th.
It added that pre-orders in South Korea will only begin on January 19th due to the time difference. However, the release date between both Samsung markets and other major countries will most likely be the same.
Price and features of the Samsung Galaxy S24 (Ultra)
Samsung’s Galaxy S24 is expected to deliver upgraded displays, bigger batteries on standard models, and improved rear cameras for the Ultra. All variants of the Galaxy S24 in the US are said to be equipped with a custom Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy SoC while selected regions will receive the Exynos-powered Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+.
While there is no mention of the pricing structure, it is even more apparent that Samsung may maintain the retail prices of the Galaxy S24, similar to the Galaxy S23 (review). Therefore, the smallest model would begin at $799 with the Plus going for $999. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S24 Ultra might stick with the $1,199 asking price.
