Instead a solitary workout, the app brings a fun competitive direction. You can race against virtual opponents in the form of ghost racers, your personal best, or previous races.
When racing, you can hear audio prompts on a race or ride. For example, you might hear “Your target ghost racer is 12 seconds ahead of you in second place.”
While racing, the app will show a race screen on your iPhone with insights into your position, overall time, average pace, and more.
Even if you want to leave your iPhone at home, there is a fully independent Apple Watch app to use. The screen will sash live states, race progress, and opponent times. You can even hear the same audio prompts while listening to music.
All of that data can be exported to Apple Health or Strava.
And the app has just moved to version 2.0 with a great new feature. You can now race against friends anywhere in the world. That gives even more motivation to see if you can go for the win.
The update also brings additional race data on your screen—weather and temperature.
Forrest is a free download now on the App Store. It’s for the iPhone and Apple Watch.
There is also an optional Forrest Pro subscription. That’s $3.99 per month or $29.99 annually. You can also unlock all of the additional features foe the lifetime of the app for $99.99.
Subscribers can unlock the ability to race against your friends, no matter where they are. You can also engage with races with up to 10 opponents to set higher goals and experience different types of competition.
Other features include an ad-free environment and a number of home screen icons to select from.
