Cause Co-op Chaos in Cult of the Lamb’s Free Unholy Alliance Update

In Cult of the Lamb’s new Unholy Alliance update, the Lamb is no longer a lone wolf in sheep’s clothing. A fiendish new ally has joined the flock, heralding a dark new age of cooperative evil. That’s right: co-op is coming to your favorite cult sim! Unholy Alliance lets you crawl dungeons, slay heretics, build your cult, and seek new powers with another player for the first time. But how does it work?

In local co-op, the Lamb joins forces with the Goat: a dark behorned presence summoned by blood and born in corruption. One player inhabits the familiar role of the Lamb, while the other sells their soul to the newly playable Goat, and together these fluffy crusaders can slice and dice their way through the whole Cult of the Lamb campaign. Not only that, but you and a buddy can enjoy fresh 2-player twists on existing minigames, including fishing and knucklebones.

Then when it’s time to embark on a crusade, the pair can use a devilish selection of co-op focused relics to smite their enemies in new and interesting ways. Equip the Wishbone of the Marbais relic and when one player takes damage, the other will be granted invincibility for 10 precious seconds. Or consider the Cross Eye of the Crow co-op relic, which spawns an evil eye that travels between both players and causes significant amounts of damage to any enemies it touches.

The Lamb and the Goat can also wield the power of co-op tarot cards. With the power of The Rivals, each player will deal extra damage when they’re fighting far away from each other. Bonds of Battle connects them with a beam of dark energy, damaging enemies who touch it. Equip The Synchronous and you’ll both deal critical hits if you both attack an enemy at the same time in perfect harmony.

There’s more to discover – including many more co-op tarot cards and relics – in Unholy Alliance. But this should give you an idea of the kind of co-op chaos you and a friend can cause when you join forces as the Lamb and the Goat.

The update also adds new cult buildings, including a nursery for nurturing up to three babies at a time, a series of new quests, and a vast array of new follower traits to make your cult more varied, unpredictable, and weirder than ever before.

Cultists with the Night Owl trait will sleep all day and work at night. If you’re wondering why a follower is snoozing during the day, and you see a moon icon above their head, this is why. Followers can be inspired by a successful mission, returning to the cult to spread positivity. Or they can be so disturbed by the horrors they witnessed, they’ll be frozen in terror and enter a catatonic state.

Unholy Alliance is available today on Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One, and is free to all owners of Cult of the Lamb. The Goat awaits your presence.
