The Apple TV+ series Lessons in Chemistry continues to be one of the Top 10 most popular shows on any streaming service, according to a market analysis. The romance drama series staring Brie Larson has pulled in big audiences since it debuted in October.
Season one is still ongoing, with new episodes debuting every week on Apple’s streaming service.
Science shows Lessons in Chemistry draws a big reaction from audiences
Although Apple TV+ doesn’t have as many subscribers as Netflix or Disney+, it nevertheless produces hits that show up at the top of the charts. Its sci-fi drama Silo was the most popular show on streaming earlier this year, for example. The same happened with Severance in 2022.
While Lessons in Chemistry isn’t doing quite as well on popularity charts, it is at No. 5 on JustWatch‘s list of top streaming shows for the week ending October 29, the most recent data available. And the drama is also at No. 5 on ReelGood’s list of Top 10 Movies & TV during the week of October 19 through October 26.
Estimates from companies like JustWatch and Reelgood are necessary because streaming services don’t reveal how many people watch their offerings.
Here’s how Apple TV+ describes the show:
Set in the early 1950s, Lessons in Chemistry follows Elizabeth Zott (Larson), whose dream of being a scientist is put on hold in a patriarchal society. When Elizabeth finds herself fired from her lab, she accepts a job as a host on a TV cooking show, and sets out to teach a nation of overlooked housewives — and the men who are suddenly listening — a lot more than recipes.
Who else is in the kitchen with Brie?
In addition to Larson, the series stars Lewis Pullman (Top Gun: Maverick, Outer Range), NAACP Image Award winner Aja Naomi King (How to Get Away with Murder, The Birth of a Nation), Stephanie Koenig (The Flight Attendant, The Offer), Kevin Sussman (The Big Bang Theory, The Dropout), Beau Bridges (The Fabulous Baker Boys, Elsewhere), Patrick Walker (Gaslit, The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey) and Thomas Mann (Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty, Me and Earl and the Dying Girl).
Aggregate Films produced the series for Apple Studios. Six-time Emmy nominee Lee Eisenberg (WeCrashed, Little America) serves as showrunner.
