Bigger Galaxy Ring Sizes Will Get Longer Battery Life

Following the preview of the Galaxy Ring at MWC last year, Samsung is widely expected to launch its first smart ring at the next Unpacked, which is rumored to happen this July. Ahead of the launch, additional details about the Galaxy Ring have begun to surface, with the latest rumors pointing to the different battery sizes.

In recent FCC certifications (via Droid-Life), nine variants of the Samsung Galaxy Ring have been listed with each ring labeled and pictured. It was noted the Galaxy Ring carries the model number SM-Q50x, with the last digit being the identifier for the ring size. However, the more interesting part was how the fitness tracker will feature varying battery capacities.

Based on what we see, the larger the Galaxy Ring size, the longer the runtime. As confirmed by the South Koreans, the Galaxy Ring is rated at 5 to 9 days of battery life between charges. Hence, we’re looking at the smaller rings to receive the shorter end of the stick while the larger rings could easily last more than a week on a full charge.

How much will the Samsung Galaxy Ring cost?

Beyond battery capacities, the wireless charging dock for the Galaxy Ring was also certified bythe same governing agency. The bottom of the charging base seems to suggest each ring size will receive a specific charging dock similar to the Oura Gen 3 Ring and will support a 5-volt supply.

Even so, it was confirmed the Galaxy Ring features Bluetooth LE as the sole connectivity feature to connect it to Galaxy devices. At the same time, it should miss out on Wi-Fi and UWB like the majority of the other smart rings.

Rumors have it Samsung will host the next Unpacked event on July 10, although there was recent chatter that the event could be moved to July 24. Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 7 and next-generation Galaxy foldable smartphones are also expected to be announced.
