EDAC Group president, Mark Burr-Lonnon said the European markets have been “pretty tough” but the market grew last year, fuelled in part by the robotics and ruggedised connectors for military and non-military applications. Recent introductions include CAT6 Ethernet connectors, the Vulcon M16s, Power-D Crimp & Poke, Micro-D backshells, plastic bayonet circular connectors and new in-line connectors (2.5 and 3.96mm versions). Still to be announced are fine pitch card edge connectors, Micro-D expansion, push-pull and pogo-pin expansion connectors.
Minky Lam has also joined the company as senior director of Asia sales & marketing. Many of the company’s products are made in Asia and the company has now increased its sales focus there.
President Mark Burr-Lonnon said that growth in China was 36% last year and 60% in the rest of Asia. Industry segments of interest here are EVs, connected smart homes, medical and transportation. “EVs have been been slightly less . . . more disappointing than we all would have liked but it still growing,” he said. Other areas of growth are agritech and test and measurement, he added.
A 5,000 sq m facility in the Philippines is also under construction.
