Apple Music Classical Available for Pre-Order, Arrives on March 28

The app comes after Apple acquired streaming app Primephonic in 2021.

Users can access a classical musical catalog with more than 5 million tracks spanning everything from new releases to celebrated masterpieces and exclusive albums. Apple is promising that the app will be continually updated with music.

All of the music will be in 192 kHz/24-bit Hi-Res Lossless with spatial audio support as well for an immersive experience.

To find something specific, you can search by composer, work, conductor, or even catalog number.

While listening, you can also read thousands of composer biographies, key works description, and more.

Listeners can also enjoy more than 700 playlists curated by experts.

TechCrunch also had more about what to expect in the app:

Famous composers will have their own high-resolution digital portraits available, which Apple commissioned from artists. These were designed with color palettes and artistic references from the relevant classical period, Apple notes, and more will be added in time. At launch, portraits will be available for Ludwig van Beethoven, Frédéric Chopin, and Johann Sebastian Bach.

You can track news and updates via the @appleclassical Twitter account.

Apple Music Classical will only be for the iPhone running iOS 15.4 or later. You can pre-order the app now on the App Store.

You’ll need an Apple Music subscription to use the app. That’s $10.99 per month for an individual or $16.99 per month for a family plan. There is also a college student option for $5.99 per month.

A subscription is also available as part of many Apple One bundles.

Just to note, it’s not available with the Apple Music Voice Plan.

The app will eventually land for Android devices, just like the main Apple Music app.
