Yelp Adds AI Search Suggestions, Review Videos and More

As all the rage with other apps, Yelp is adding AI features. AI will help provide better search suggestions based on search intent not bound by your location. That can help you make plans for for the future when you’re looking for business not near your home or to review a business from a recent trip.

And to help answer that age-old dilemma of where to eat, the Surprise Me feature will provide a highly-rated option near you.

Clickable category tags on business listings can help you better refine a search and connect with the correct business.

With each new review, Yelp will now be able to better understand your search intent and highlight relevant information.

There is also a number of new ways to offers reviews. First up, you can now post videos of up to 12 seconds along with text review and photos.

The review writing experience has also been revamped with interactive review topics. There is also four new review reactions—“helpful,” “thanks,” “love this,” and “oh no.”

Video content is also coming to Yelp Connect, the paid feature that allows business owners to share important updates directly with consumers.

You can see a new navigation bar on restaurant, food, and nightlife that makes it easier to find the information you’re looking for. It will allows you to jump directly to a business menu, amenities, reviews, and more.

A new home feed will show even more helpful information like total review count, how many reviews mentioned a popular dish, the price of a menu item, and more. More helpful information and visual contributions, like video, are planned on the home feed sometime this year.

Finally, a new login experience that is rolling out won’t require you to remember your password every time you want to log into your account. When logging in, you’ll receive a unique email link for authentication.

Yelp is a free download now on the App Store for the iPhone and all iPad models.
