A new Xiaomi flagship smartphone is coming next week, the company announced Wednesday.
The new Xiaomi 12T series of phones will be launched on Oct. 4, in Munich, at 2 p.m. local time (8 a.m. ET).
The event will also be livestreamed on Xiaomi’s site(opens in a new tab), as well as its social media channels, including YouTube(opens in a new tab).
Xiaomi didn’t share many details about the upcoming device, besides a cryptic image and the tagline “make moments mega,” which we’re guessing refers to either camera zoom or the megapixel count.
Xiaomi 12 Pro review: Powerful, but it lacks that special something
Rumors say the company will launch at least two phones — the Xiaomi 12T and the Xiaomi 12T Pro — and that at least one of them will have a 200-megapixel main camera sensor which, frankly, sounds a little nuts, but it’s just where we are in the phone megapixel race. In fact, even if the rumor is true, Xiaomi won’t even be the first to achieve this, as Motorola’s Moto X30 Pro already has a 200-megapixel camera.
Despite the naming scheme, which makes it sound like the 12T will only be a minor upgrade compared to the Xiaomi 12, which was launched this spring, Xiaomi’s “T” series of devices often come with a number of cool new features. Given that the Xiaomi 12 Pro is already very powerful, it’ll be interesting to see what the Xiaomi 12T Pro can bring to the table.
