Weekly poll results: vivo foldables spark interest, but the X Fold2 might need a price cut

It has been a couple of weeks since vivo introduced its next-gen foldables and we still haven’t heard anything about an international launch. But last week’s poll shows that if the company does decide to go for a wide distribution, there would be a fair number of interested buyers.

There’s the usual share of foldable skepticism, around a quarter of voters in each poll don’t believe that this is the form factor of the future. But it’s gaining traction – just a few years ago there were only a handful of models, now there is plenty of competition, which can also be seen in the charts.

Let’s have a closer look at how the vivo X Fold2 did. The X Fold+, which this phone aims to replace, received a positive result with the vote going 60/40 in its favor. The X Fold2 results look less convincing – people appreciated the thinner, lighter build, however, the camera department was a let down.

There is also the concern about price, which always surrounds foldables. As we mentioned last week, vivo worked to achieve a smaller price tag on the X Fold2 and the X Fold+, but it seems that more work needs to be done. Again, vivo has not announced any international rollout plans, so we can only compare it to other foldables as they are priced in China.

Moving on to the vivo X Flip, the company’s first clamshell foldable, is looking like the hotter product – the poll results show a stronger outright demand and significantly fewer people concerned about the pricing.

Cousin Oppo only brought its clamshell foldable to the global market, leaving the Find N2 in China. vivo might go for a similar strategy and judging by the polls, it might be the right strategy.

For both the X Fold2 and X Flip, there were many voters who prefer the phones from other companies. The longer vivo waits, the more competition there will be – Samsung’s Flip and Fold are a few months away, Google’s first foldable will be made official next week.
