Samsung Electronics America has revealed the latest addition to its ViewFinity monitor series – the 27-inch ViewFinity S9 (S90PC model). The monitor was previously announced during CES 2023, as the keen-eyed among you might’ve been able to notice, but now, the product is actually making it to store shelves — and it has a lot to offer if you’re after an ultra-premium monitor. The ViewFinity S9 boasts a 27-inch screen with an impressive 5K resolution (5,120 x 2,880), which, according to Samsung, manages to provide 50% more workspace than standard 4K UHD monitors. The display itself is fairly exceptional, covering 99% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, and featuring a typical brightness of 600 cd/m2, ensuring you’ll get stuff done regardless of light conditions. The colors themselves are also well calibrated, with Samsung promising Delta E <21 accuracy — and if you need to calibrate it, the Smart Calibration feature will let you customize your settings using just your smartphone.

The monitor comes with many of the features that come with other Samsung monitors, such as a full smart TV experience that lets you watch streaming services without a TV or a computer. There is also a gaming hub if you’re into cloud gaming, which gives you access to services such as Xbox Game Pass and NVIDIA GeForce Now without downloads or storage space requirements.

The ViewFinity S9 incorporates TUV-certified Intelligent Eye Care features to reduce eye strain during extended use, and it has a matte display keeping reflections and distractions at bay. You can even rotate it 90 degrees if you need to read documents or, well, pretty much anything vertical. It comes with plenty of connectivity options including Thunderbolt 4 and Mini DisplayPort inputs, along with USB-C compatibility. Thunderbolt 4 support means that it also supports fast data transfers at up to 40 Gbps, and it can charge devices with up to 90W of power.

You might’ve also been able to notice that it has a camera stuck on top. For enhanced video conferencing, the ViewFinity S9 includes a built-in 4K SlimFit camera that connects seamlessly via pogo pin, tilting to match the monitor’s angle and utilizing Auto Framing to keep users in the shot.

The ViewFinity S9 will be available for purchase in August on Samsung.com and select retailers, with a price tag of $1,599.99. If you want to buy one, keep an eye out at your retailer of choice.
