Prepare for Winter with LEGO’s Alpine Lodge Set

We’re still a few months from the holiday season, but LEGO is swooping in with a new addition to its Winter Village Collection. The snowy Alpine Lodge set contains several separate structures, including a large wooden cabin, an outhouse, a Christmas tree market, and a snowmobile. While this set is fairly complicated, LEGO says that it’s “perfect to build as a family,” as adults can work on the large parts while children tackle the smaller stuff. The Alpine Lodge goes on sale October 4th for $100, though LEGO Insiders can order it on October 1st.

LEGO’s Alpine Lodge contains 1,517 individual pieces, including five minifigs with a lot of personality. This set’s defining feature is the large wooden cabin, which contains a bar, a Christmas tree, a fireplace, two guest rooms, and a balcony. A light-up brick inside of the lodge adds an extra touch of winter charm and can be activated by pressing a button on the chimney.

The other elements in this set are a lot smaller than the cabin. Still, they’re surprisingly detailed. LEGO made sure to fill the market and outhouse with snow, trees, and small details, such as an abandoned pair of skis. And, for a bit of narrative flair, the snowmobile can drag Christmas trees from the market to other parts of the set. There are also several small items for the minifigs to interact with, such as a gift box, a hockey stick, a cat, and a ski set.

Kids are sure to enjoy the LEGO Alpine Lodge set, so long as you help with assembly. But this and other Winter Village Collection sets are marketed to adults—it’s like an up-to-date version of those old porcelain Christmas Village collectibles. The only downside to these holiday-themed sets is that they need to be put away and reassembled each year (if you’re feeling bold, you can avoid disassembling this set by shoving it into one of those holiday popcorn tins with some leftover wrapping paper).

Again, LEGO’s Alpine Lounge costs $100 and goes on sale October 4th. Join LEGO Insiders for free if you want to order the Alpine Village three days early (and earn a flurry of gifts and rewards). Alpine Lounge is one of many sets in LEGO’s Winter Village Collection, so if you’re interested, be sure to check out Santa’s Visit and Holiday Main Street.
