One of the best-looking indie titles at this year’s Summer Game Fest was Cocoon, the gorgeous puzzle adventure from former leads on Playdead’s Limbo and Inside. Now we know that you’ll be able to carry entire worlds on your back on the Switch when the game launches on 29th September 2023.
A brand new trailer, along with the release date, was shared during today’s Annapurna Interactive showcase. Our sister site Push Square went hands-on with the game at the summer showcase and said that “it will be something special” when it releases — blimey.
With the pedigree behind it, we’re already excited, and with the sombre, beautiful worlds and the unique world-carrying mechanics, it looks and feels like very few other games out there. Each unusual planet is full of strange insect-like creatures and varied flora, and you’ll need to use each world — which you store in a little orb on your back — to solve planets throughout the galaxy.

The trailer didn’t wow me, but I’ll certainly keep an eye out for it given the developers working on it.
Looks amazing to me since the first trailer. Looking forward to 29th September.
No update on Outer Wilds during the Annapurna Interactive Showcase. It was announced for Switch over 2 years ago. Wonder what happend to it.
This looks excellent! Just hope it performs well.
@Yosti Wouldn’t surprise me if they just give up on it and wait for the Switch successor if they’re having real issues with the port. Would prefer that over a bad port but an update on what’s happened to it would be nice.
@BenAV Last year they confirmed it is still happening. But it is weird it is taking so long. I also expect the just give up. I played the game on Xbox and it is running 30 fps and seems quite complex. I don’t see it being a good Switch port. Waiting for the Switch successor would make sense.
Between this and Viewfinder for ps5, i won’t be lacking surrealistic puzzles for at least a while
Stopped the trailer after about ten seconds. This looks amazing.
Definitely on the wish list.
