The new title, only for the iPad. is all about providing a platform for 2D animation.
Just like Procreate, the app can be used with both touch and the Apple Pencil. You don’t need animation experience to use the app.
A highlight of the app is the Multi-touch Timeline. That allows you to navigate, organize, and edit projects. You can also mix drawing, cel animation, keyframing, video editing, and compositing with easy-to-learn gestures, making work faster than a mouse and keyboard.
Procreate users will feel right at home in the Flipbook as they can flip between frames and draw full-screen with onion skins and familiar Procreate brushes.
There’s also no need to wait for rendering as that is done in real-time. You can also layer high quality video formats including 4K ProRes.
The app’s file format is also unique. Al of the assets are bundled into a single file made for iCloud synchronization and backups. The format also allows you to instantly open and start work. There’s no need to worry about saving as each change made is instantly saved. A saved undo history also allows experimentation without the risk of losing your work.
You can download Procreate Dreams now on the App Store for a one-time purchase $19.99. There are no in-app purchases or subscriptions. You’ll need iPadOS 16.3 or later to use the app.
New updates and features are planned for the app in 2024.
