Now this is the cover that a lot of people are going to remember when you think of Yoshi’s Story. It’s bright, it’s colourful, it’s got those uber-smooth 3D sprites on the front — what’s not to like? All those Yoshis (and the guest appearance from Shy Guy) give you a pretty good idea of the tone that this game is going to strike without actually showing anything specific — neat.
Japan
Once again, the Japanese cover goes for something completely different. It’s still bright, colourful and adorned with multiple Yoshis, but it has a crafted feel in its embroidery aesthetic that’s not a million miles away from the hand-made look that has been so important to the likes of Yoshi’s Woolly / Crafted World. True, the outline embroidery might make the dinos look a little spikier than usual, but we’d say it’s pretty eye-catching all the same.
