Apple Announces Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro for the iPad

Final Cut Pro brings a huge suite of tools for video creators. The iPad version offers an all-new touch interface and other features.

The jog wheel is designed to make editing easier and brings new ways to interact with the content. You can navigate the Magnetic Timeline, move clips, and more with multi-touch gestures.

Using the Apple Pencil you can draw and write directly onto video content. The iPad Pro with M2 chip uses the Appel Pencil hover feature so you can skim and preview footage without touching the screen.

The app’s Pro camera mode allows users to shoot video in both portrait or landscape orientation and control manual settings like focus, exposure, and white balance. There is also an option for multicam video editing.

Other features include auto crop, voice isolation, and scene removal mask.

You can use a number of professional graphics, effects, and audio. To help video creating, you can import supported media from Files or Photos or projects from iMovie for iOS. It’s also easy to export to Final Cut Pro on the Mac.

Logic Pro features an all-new sound browser to help music creators find a perfect sound. It shows all available instruments patches, audio patches, and more in a single location. You can listen to it before loading it into a project.

The app also supports the Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard Folio or Magic Keyboard to speed up production.

Other features include professional instruments and effects plug-ins, beat making and production tools, and a pro mixer. Just like Final Cut Pro, you can export projects to the Mac version.

Both Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro will arrive on the App Store on Tuesday, May 23. You will need a separate subscription of $4.99 per month or $49.99 yearly to use either app. There is a free, one-month trial for both apps.

Final Cut Pro requires an iPad with an M1 chip or later. Logic Pro can use used with any iPad sporting an A12 Bionic chip or later. You will also need to have iPadOS 16.4 or later installed.
