Bituo Technik, a Shanghai-based technology provider, has gained recognition as a leading supplier of Residual Current Devices (RCDs). Their expertise in RCDs is evident through the integration of type-A/F leakage current detection ICs and type-EV/B leakage current sensors into various electrical protection devices across Asia and Europe, including RCCB/RCBO (IEC61008-1, IEC 61009-1 and IEC 62423), CBR (IEC 60947-2-(B)), mRCD (IEC 60947-2-(M)), IC-CPD (IEC 62752) and RDC-DD (IEC 62955).
Bituo Technik expanded their product portfolio in 2022 to include PMD (Power Metering & Monitoring Devices compliant to IEC 61557-12 standard) . Their latest innovation lies in the development of the industry’s most space-efficient real-time energy sensors, offering unmatched size optimization while supporting a wide range of wireless and wired communications.
Empowering electrical safety through technology integration
In various power electronics applications, the conventional Type AC RCDs often fall short in providing adequate protection against electrical shock and fire hazards. For instance, appliances equipped with variable frequency speed drives, like washing machines and air conditioners, require Type F RCDs. Additionally, AC electric vehicle chargers must comply with IEC 61851-1 standard and utilize Type EV RCDs (RDC-DDs) or Type B RCDs.
Nevertheless, the transition towards enhancing electrical safety in power electronics applications by replacing Type AC RCDs with Type A / F / EV / B RCDs has experienced sluggish progress in most countries. The primary hurdle lies in the complex design and manufacturing of cost-effective electronic parts and components necessary for Type A / F / EV / B RCDs, impeding their widespread adoption.
Since its establishment in 2018 by a highly regarded team of experts, Bituo Technik has been at the forefront of driving the advancement of electrical safety towards Type A / F / EV / B RCDs. The company provides an extensive array of Type A / F / EV / B residual current detection technologies, enabling seamless integration into electrical protection devices and power electronics equipment.
Bituo Technik takes pride in the widespread adoption of its high-performance AC/DC residual current sensors in the field of EV charging. These sensors, designed to meet the IEC 62752 and IEC 62955 standards, have been embraced by over 120 EVSE OEMs across Asia and Europe.
Advancing energy IoT with real-time energy sensors
Wall-mounted and Din-rail energy meters or monitors have inherent limitations in terms of size and cost, making them unsuitable for load-specific and branch-circuit energy monitoring requirements. To incorporate integrated energy monitoring capabilities into building products and machine equipment, electronic engineers are required to augment their product controller boards with additional components such as CTs, PTs, and metering ICs. However, this introduces complexity to the product design due to the inclusion of high-voltage conductive parts on the controller board. Furthermore, ensuring measurement accuracy for large-scale manufacturing poses a significant challenge.
In early 2023, Bituo Technik launched SPM01/02, an ultra-compact smart energy sensor offering Class 1 accuracy (IEC 61557-12) and supporting current levels up to 63A. With its compact form factor and extensive wired and wireless communication options, engineers can effortlessly integrate real-time electrical monitoring capabilities into existing product offerings. For instance, IGREN Engineering, a leading air conditioning solution provider in Malaysia, successfully incorporated SPM01/02 into their air conditioning systems, enabling effective real-time energy management in workplaces and restaurants.
SPM01/02 features a notable modular design that presents a promising original design manufacturer (ODM) solution for electrical product and building product manufacturers seeking to rapidly expand their energy IoT portfolios. As depicted in Figure 3, Modbus over U-ART serves as the communication protocol between the measurement board and the wireless communication module. Our ODM partners’ firmware engineers have the flexibility to program the wireless communication modules, such as the ESP32 SoC-based WiFi module and the EFR32MG21 SoC-powered Zigbee module, ensuring seamless integration with their respective cloud platforms and gateways.
Making electricity safe and smart through collaboration
In addition to their professional expertise in RCD and PMD, Bituo Technik demonstrates strong supply chain management capabilities. By establishing dual supply chains with upstream partners from Jiangsu Province in China, and the DACH region in Europe, Bituo Technik ensures high standards of delivery for their customers.
In pursuit of elevating customer service and expanding their reach, Bituo Technik is actively seeking professional channel partners in Europe. The company recognizes that collaboration is essential in driving towards a safer and smarter way to engage with electricity.
