Lost in Random: The Eternal Die – Gamble with Fate in a New Rogue-lite Adventure

Summary

  • An all-new rogue-lite adventure in the Lost in Random universe.
  • Launching in 2025 for Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC, and available with Game Pass on day one.
  • A great jumping-in point for new and existing fans alike.

It’s been three years since people first stepped foot into the realm of Random. When we released the first game, Lost in Random, we were overwhelmed by the response. We knew that we wanted to do more in the universe, but it was about finding a way to bring those core elements of the first game that people praised – the art direction, the characters, and the world – to a bigger audience.

We revealed the next step today on the Xbox @ gamescom livestream – Lost in Random: The Eternal Die is an action-packed, Random-infused rogue-lite. Set within the riveting realms of Random, you play as Aleksandra, who, alongside her companion Fortune, will roll the dice, dodge, dash, and smash her way through an epic adventure, where a wicked villain plots Random’s next chapter.

It’s a shift in genre from a 3D action-adventure game to an isometric rogue-lite. That change in genre allowed the team to deliver tight, fast-paced, and satisfying gameplay whilst maintaining those core elements that we all love. Here are some of the key things you need to know about our return to Random:

The Voice of Lost In Random

The Sanctuary, or the hub in the game, is not only where the player can re-strategize, sorting weapons and upgrades before new runs.

It’s also where we tell a lot of the story, and where players can meet and interact with the quirky and whimsical characters of Random. Everything is fully voiced and – thanks to an amazing cast of actors – that unique tone of Lost In Random is truly there. For example, there’s a living rack that offers both weapons and wea-puns…

Random Rules!

Part of making a rogue-lite for us was deciding just how “Random” it should be. We wanted each of our game worlds to feel unique and tailored whilst keeping runs fresh. Each run you embark on will be randomly generated from a hand-crafted group of tiles, meaning that your runs are unique in their make-up and layout, but the themes for each world will always be consistent. I don’t want to spoil what the worlds offer just yet, but there are some sneak peeks in the trailer.

Freedom Through Relics

One of our goals when designing this game was to provide our community with as much freedom as possible. If they can find and combine crazy builds, well, they should be able to utilise them.

For us, the answer to that challenge came through Relics. Players can collect Relics to combine stat buffs, ability modifiers, and awesome effects for Fortune (your throwable die-companion!). If you take the time to sort and match your Relics more thoroughly, you can also explore even deeper rewards and synergies.

Random for All

We want Lost in Random: The Eternal Die to be a game that anybody can jump into and have fun with. For less experienced players who want to test the waters of the genre, there are powerful, permanent upgrades that will assist you. For those hardcore players, we want to provide as much freedom as possible with our Relic system. We can’t wait to see just what wild builds you can come up with.

We’re incredibly grateful to the community for their response to the first game and we hope that you’ll be right there with us when Lost in Random: The Eternal Die launches for Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC (coming day one with Game Pass) in 2025.
