Illuminaria Provides a Fun Combination of Tower Defense and Resource Management

The game combines tower building with resource management and small bits of base-building and dungeon exploration.

Taking place on a planet on the unknown part of the universe. Hundreds of years ago, the planet was full of life. Then a darkness appeared and took that all away. The world’s inhabitants, The Illumi, tried to stop it but couldn’t do it on time.

As a final resort, they created an automated system to save the world. You’ll be tasked with controlling the system and restoring the light.

You can control the robots with simple interactions. First choose what to build an what resources to gather, and the robots will do the rest. They can also load weapons, fight, and respond to the world around them.

Enemies of darkness will attempt to attack your base and steal vital resources, so you’ll need to build turrets and load them with ammo for the battle.

Instead of just a single base, you can build more than one with finite space.

To find additional rare resources, enter into dungeons to find treasures and battle enemies into auto-battles.

In each of the game’s give regions, you can find new resources and technologies. While playing, you will also better understand what happened on the planet.

Developer Selva Interactive took inspiration with popular resource games like Oxygen Not Included, Frostpunk and Rimworld. And to make it more accessible, they added a friendlier learning curve and defined goals and constraints.

Illuminaria is designed for the iPhone and all iPad models. It’s a $4.99 download on the App Store now
