Dive Into Interactive Widgets on Your iPhone and iPad With Widgetive

Previously, home screen widgets just showed a slice of information from a selected app. Pressing it would open up the app itself. Now, you can do much more like turn off a light switch without needing to open up the app.

And the new app Widgetive is all about showing what you can do with interactive widgets. The app features a slew of interactive widgets that you can customize for your home screen—everything from a calculator to a game of tic-tac-toe.

Getting started is easy, open up the app and view the different categories of widget available—Health & Fitness, Countdowns, Games, Time Zones, Tools, and Quotes & Jokes.

Once you pick a widget, you can further customize it with information like name and color of the background, button color, and font. Many widgets are available in all three sizes, small, medium, and large.

There are a lot of fun options available. Some of my favorites were the small piano and a bubble popping game.

When you want to add a widget, just long press the home screen and elect the + icon in the upper left corner. Choose Widgetive from the list and then choose the widget you want to use.

Widgetive is a free download on the App Store now. There is an optional subscription to unlock all of the app’s features. You can subscribe for $2.99 per month or $9.99 yearly.

Subscribers will receive access to all widgets and the ability to customize a favorite widget and add it into the library. It also removes all advertisements.

While we’ll obviously see a plethora of new interactive widgets from apps, Widgetive is a fun way to see how the new feature can be used in your everyday routine.
