‘Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty’ expansion set for September release

CD Projekt Red has officially announced the release date for the much-awaited Cyberpunk 2077 expansion, Phantom Liberty. The expansion is set to launch on September 26, 2023, and will be the game’s first and only campaign expansion. The announcement and the new trailer above were shared at the Xbox Showcase, where new details about the expansion were shared.

Phantom Liberty is described as a “spy-thriller” add-on that takes place in an unexplored district in Night City, known as Dogtown. The new trailer for the expansion introduces new characters, including FIA Agent Solomon Reed, portrayed by actor Idris Elba.

Fans of arrogant and nihilistic rockstar Johnny Silverhand will be pleased to know that Keanu Reeves is reprising his role, lending his voice and likeness to the character once again.

The gameplay trailer showcased spies hiding in plain sight, a focus on silenced weaponry, and a military force that poses a significant threat to V and Johnny.

Despite the initial launch issues, Cyberpunk has managed a significant turnaround since its late 2020 debut. As of September 2022, the game has sold more than 20 million copies. With the release of Phantom Liberty, fans have more to look forward to from the Cyberpunk franchise.
