Beta 4 of iOS 16.5, iPadOS 16.5, MacOS Ventura 13.4, Available for Testing

new beta versions of system software

The fourth beta versions of iOS 16.5, iPadOS 16.5, and MacOS Ventura 13.4 are now available to users participating in the beta system software programs.

No significant features or changes are expected in MacOS Ventura 13.4, iOS 16.5, or iPadOS 16.5, and instead it’s likely the updates will focus on security enhancements, bug fixes, and perhaps a minor change or two. Apple is likely focusing the majority of their software development efforts on iOS 17, iPadOS 17, and MacOS 14, which are set to debut at WWDC 2023 next month.

For users in the MacOS Beta program, you can find macOS Ventura 13.4 beta 4 available to download from the  Apple menu > System Settings > General > Software Update.

For iPhone and iPad beta users, iOS/iPadOS 16.5 beta 4 can be downloaded from Settings app > General > Software Update.

There are also beta updates available for watchOS and tvOS, for users who are active in development for those platforms.

Since Apple typically goes through several beta versions prior to releasing a final version to the general public, it’s a reasonable guess that we’ll see the final versions of iOS 16.5, iPadOS 16.5, and MacOS Ventura 13.4 sometime later in the month of May.

The latest stable versions of system software for iOS, iPadOS, and MacOS are the freshly released security response updates for MacOS 13.3.1 (a), iOS 16.4.1 (a), and iPadOS 16.4.1 (a).
